Title I Administration

Welcome to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Department of Title I Administration site.  On December 10, 2015, President Barack Obama signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The law maintains the annual testing requirement for Reading and Math in grades 3-8 and once in high school, and grade-span testing in Science. It also maintains subgroup reporting and a 95 percent testing requirement.

In accordance with ESSA’s orderly transition provision, ESSA components will be fully implemented at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. Therefore, States, Local Educational Agencies (LEA) and schools shall continue to implement most of the requirements of the Title I Program in the 2016-2017 school year in accordance with NCLB, as they existed in the 2015-2016 school year.

Title I is the part of NCLB and ESSA that supports programs in schools and school districts to improve the learning of children from low income families. Title I is the largest federally funded education program designed to provide students with additional help in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies.

The Title I Program is committed to helping schools close the achievement gap between disadvantaged and minority students and their peers.  This site is designed to supply users with information relevant to Title I in order to provide a clear understanding of the overall program.
